Fannie Li readily admits she never thought she’d end up in the School of Health Sciences Physician Assistant program.
Li worked as a receptionist at City MD. She quickly moved up the ladder and eventually became a manager at the practice. She found herself a cohort among her fellow employees. “I ended up working closely with the PAs and doctors and they really encouraged me,” said Li. Li enrolled in Touro’s School of Health Sciences-Bayshore’s undergraduate program to meet her requirements for PA school. Going back to school, she said was a challenge, but she was surprised by how much she loved her science classes. “For the first time, I was an A student. I was super focused in my upper science classes.” Li said she is interested in becoming an emergency room PA.
High School Waitress: Li got bored of high school and she took her GED at 16 and worked as a waitress for two years before going to college.
