Future PA Wen Yin moved to the US with her parents at the age of 18. Though she only had a basic grasp of the English language, she enrolled in Hunter College and managed a dual major in statistics and psychology. “China is a bit more conservative,” she explained. “I prefer it here.”

Yin originally thought about becoming a clinical psychologist but changed her mind after an internship. “I liked learning about the human mind, but I realized I was more interested in the medical side of it.” While she worked on the administrative side of Mt. Sinai’s Department of Surgical Oncology, she said she was “amazed by what PA’s were able to do.” Yin went back to finish her pre-reqs at City Tech and enrolled at Touro.

What does she love most about America? “The freedom of speech,” she said. “There has been a push for it lately in China, especially regarding political speech, it’s still not comparable to what we have here.”

Yin lives with her husband in Kew Gardens. They have a Maltese named Doudou, which means “Little Bean” in Mandarin.
