As they started the clinical portion of their education, students in the Touro College School of Health Sciences (SHS) Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program donned their white coats in ceremonies for Manhattan and Bay Shore students.

 “Horses have a very calm demeanor, which is why they are so therapeutic for kids with disabilities,” explains Amarinder Parmar, a DPT ’17 candidate at Touro’s School of Health Sciences (SHS), when asked about the connection between physical therapy and horses. “It has to do with the movement of the horse, and the effect the pelvic input has on the children, many of whom don’t have proper body mechanics.”

Dedicated to expanding its research footprint and promoting faculty research initiatives, Touro College School of Health Sciences (SHS) held its first annual Faculty Research Retreat on June 2, 2016. The retreat was hosted by SHS Dean Louis Primavera, Associate Dean Frank Gardner, and the SHS Research Support and Development Committee.
