The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) is a simple and powerful process for creating the life and wellness you want. We all face challenges regardless of our role and status in life. In this seminar, we will discuss the parts of a WRAP plan and explore ways that the principles and activities associated with WRAP can be applied for ourselves and our patient’s wellness for a more client-centered and empowering approach. 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: 

• Identify 3 key concepts that make WRAP work.
• Identify 3 ways an occupational therapy practitioner would incorporate WRAP and its principles into therapy.

Stephen Nawotniak OTR/L

Stephen is an Occupational Therapist and New York Certified Peer Specialist. He received his Masters in Occupational Therapy from Utica College and a self-designed Masters through Buffalo State College. He is the author of Handbook for Healthy Living with a Mood Disorder, Bipolar Life Hacks: Keys to Loving Life with a Bipolar Disorder, and the award winning Mubu the Morph children’s book series.

Stephen believes that successfully living with a condition is not merely managing and coping with its symptoms. It requires adaptability to change, mechanisms for managing challenges, and the development of skills for a fulfilling life. Steve uses his professional experiences as an Occupational Therapist and personal experiences as a Certified Peer Specialist living with a bipolar condition to advocate for the evolution in mental health care. Steve is the Director of Peer Services at a state psychiatric hospital in Buffalo, New York.
