Mr. Volkringer is originally from New York where he was employed as a certified personal trainer and director of fitness in a sports medicine facility. He attended Virginia Tech where he received a Bachelor's degree in Architecture. In 1996, he moved to Virginia Beach and joined the team of Atlantic Sports Medicine. Shortly thereafter, he earned his Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University while serving as president of his class and graduating with honors. In early 2003, he was recognized as a board certified specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy.
In 2006 he was recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association as a Certified Clinical Instructor. Additionally, he serves as adjunct faculty in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Old Dominion University. In 2004 he developed a continuing education course for licensed physical therapists on the mechanics of the pelvis and lower extremities that he teaches nationally several times a year (for course and registration information, click here). Mr. Volkringer's special areas of interest include lower quarter biomechanics and rehabilitation of pelvic, hip and foot injuries. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association's Sports Section and is licensed to practice in the State of Virginia. He resides with his wife Carol and two children, Michael and Samantha, in Virginia Beach and enjoys spending free time running and playing golf.
