“There Are Unlimited Options”

Casey Budd joined the class of 2021 with a bit more life-experience than her fellow students. Born in Chicago, Budd spent most of her childhood Georgia. At 18, she moved to Germany with her husband, a member of the armed forces. While her husband was deployed, Budd worked in various positions for the Department of Defense.

They traveled extensively for six years before her husband’s untimely death. Budd spent a period coping with the loss and eventually decided to embark on a nursing career. “My experiences have matured me,” said Budd. “Given what I went through I feel like I can translate that into becoming a great nurse.”

Budd moved to New York to be with a family member and worked as a medical aesthetician, while she considered where to apply to nursing school. As a medical aesthetician, Budd worked in one of the most popular medical spas in New York City. She is considering a return to her previous position as a nurse aesthetician but is keeping her options open and wants to explore the different options a nursing career provides. “You can really try whatever you want, there are unlimited options,” said Budd. She believes that her empathy and adaptability are her greatest assets in the nursing field.

Favorite Place

Her favorite place is New Zealand. During a month-long visit last year, she drove across the entire island.
