Touro Mourns Passing of Professor Gisele Oliveira
Assistant Professor and Director of Research in the Master's Program in Speech-Language Pathology Was a Leader in the Field
We are saddened by the loss of one of our professors, Gisele Oliveira, Ph.D., who passed away on March 31st.
As the director of research, Dr. Oliveira was instrumental in helping her students through their research projects. Her efforts ensured that many of her students were published in scholarly peer-reviewed journals and presented at prestigious conventions, including those held by The Voice Foundation and the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
“Dr. Oliveira instilled a passion for the field and research of speech pathology,” says Hindy Lubinsky, Director, Department Chair Touro Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology. “Her contributions to the college, the field and the world are immeasurable.”
Dr. Oliveira was a leader in her field with more than 60 published papers and 10 books. She also served on the editorial board of the preeminent scientific journal, The Journal of Voice.
“Dr. Oliveira’s love for the field and her fellow human beings was cherished by all,” says Lubinsky. “It was an honor to know her and to work with her.”
