Dr. Zella E. Moor is both a clinical psychologist and a sport and performance psychologist, and is a Full Professor in the M.A. Program in General Psychology, which is in the Department of Doctoral Studies in Clinical Psychology at Touro University. She has worked with clients whose psychopathology and intervention needs span the entire spectrum, from schizophrenia to performance blocks, and is skilled in multiple evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) formats. In addition to teaching in higher education for over 20 years and simultaneously serving in administrative roles for nearly 10 years, she was the founding Senior Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology, and has written many books, journal articles, and chapters on topics such as mindfulness; emotion regulation; experiential avoidance; clinical anger; performance; and psychosocial wellbeing. Dr. Moore has also presented over 150 papers, symposia, clinical round tables, keynote addresses, and workshops at national and international conferences around the world. As co-developer of the Mindfulness-Acceptance-Commitment (MAC) approach to performance enhancement and psychosocial well-being, Dr. Moore is a renowned pioneer in the use of mindfulness within sport and performance psychology.

Research
Dr. Moore’s primary research activities follow several distinct, yet somewhat overlapping paths, including but not limited to investigating various areas of clinical sport psychology such as mindfulness, theory development of performance dysfunction, evaluation of the empirical support for traditional sport psychology interventions, classification of athletes’ psychological and performance issues, and mechanisms of action; investigating various constructs related to mindfulness, emotion regulation/dysregulation, and experiential avoidance, and their relationship to emotional and behavioral outcomes; and investigating constructs related to anger, aggression, and violence, with a particular focus on anger dyscontrol and the associated intrapersonal and interpersonal consequences.

Professional Service
- Provided a week-long intensive seminar in Venice, Italy. The intensive seminar brought sport psychologists from around the world who work with Olympic and professional athletes, and the immersive seminar trained them in the provision of the Mindfulness-Acceptance-Commitment protocol, of which I am co-developer.
