Focus Area/Interests
Research Interest: My research interests lay heavily in the ASD population. I have specifically been interested in the impacts of COVID-19 on autistic children and adolescents, especially in the classroom setting. I also have research interests in early intervention, the impacts of ABA therapy, and overall understanding the neuropsychology associated with ASD. These are some topics I have researched in the past, and in upcoming research opportunities I would also like to take a closer look into how siblings of autistic children are affected, as well as how children may be misdiagnosed and/or receive a late-age diagnosis due to comorbidities they may also be dealing with during early childhood, such as cancer treatment, type-one diabetes, etc.
Clinical Interest: My clinical interests align with my research interests, as I have worked with autistic populations with ages ranging from four years old to 20 years old. I am very interested in early intervention & diagnosis of autism, as well as having resources readily and easily accessible for families of autistic persons, especially populations that may deal with health disparities.
What do you do for self-care?
Self-care to me is doing anything that makes me genuinely happy in that moment, so it can range from being alone and binge watching my favorite series: RHONJ, spending time with my parents and puppies, or having a night out on the town with my closest girlfriends. Even though I am Brooklyn born-and-raised, I recently have moved to a peaceful neighborhood in Queens, NY, so I have taken up bike riding along the beach as part of my self-care as well.
