Application Deadlines

Seats are limited, admission is competitive, and decisions are made on a rolling basis, so we recommend you apply early.

Aug

Priority admission for a fall start (MSN-DNP) is August 15.
Fall start is for advanced standing students with a master’s and nurse practitioner certification. We have rolling admissions until the class is filled.

Dec

Priority admissions for a spring start (BS-DNP) is December 15.
Spring start is for registered nurses with a bachelor’s in nursing. We have rolling admissions until the class is filled.

Admission Requirements

In reviewing candidates for the DNP program we look at your complete application and accompanying materials, this includes your undergraduate college academic record, GRE Exam scores, and admissions interview.

In order to apply you'll need a completed application, which includes:

Required for All DNP Applicants

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from an accredited institution
  • A current unencumbered New York State R.N. license
  • One (1) year clinical experience post-baccalaureate degree is required
  • General GRE Exam scores. We do not grant waivers for the GRE requirement. Please schedule the test at least two weeks prior to the program’s application deadline. Preferred scores should be greater than or equal to Quantitative: 144, Verbal: 150, Analytical Writing: 3.5
  • Personal statement
  • from two individuals who can attest to your scholastic and/or professional performance. At least one must be professional.

Additional Requirements BS-DNP Applicants

  • Minimum undergraduate grade average of B in Nursing and a minimum grade average of B in the undergraduate record as a whole.
  • The completed BS-DNP Clinical Requirement Form.

Additional Requirements MSN-DNP Applicants

  • Official graduate college transcripts where you completed the MS Degree in Nursing
  • Graduate GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • National certification at an advanced level (i.e., requiring a graduate degree) from a national nursing certifying body.
  • CV/Resume

How to Apply

You can apply to the program through the general Touro application.

You will upload the required materials – official undergraduate college transcripts, copy of valid, unencumbered registered nurse license, personal statements, two letters of recommendation, and GRE scores – within the online application.

After You've Submitted Your Complete Application

Interview

We invite selected applicants for an interview. You will be invited by email from a Touro University Nursing Program representative. The interview consists of a series of verbal questions for the admissions committee to review. This holistic approach allows us to meet you, get a sense of your personality, and potential, and assess your unique experiences, alongside the traditional measures of academic achievement in your application.

Nursing Transfer Credit Policy

Advanced standing students: FNP-to-DNP students may transfer in up to a blanket 38 credits with their MSN Degree for program entry, upon Program Director’s approval.

Confidentiality

As per Federal regulations, the status of an applicant in the admissions process can be discussed only with the applicant. The program cannot respond to requests for information from concerned family, friends, associates, or other interested parties.
