Sabrina Cerciello, PT, DPT

Guest Lecturer, Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency

School of Health Sciences

Sabrina has been practicing physical therapy in a variety of settings since her graduation from Northeastern University in Boston, MA in 2015. She has always had a special interest and passion for pediatrics, which led her to her first position in the pediatric rehabilitation department at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in NYC, where she progressed to Advanced Clinician. While at HSS, she also completed a one year rotation at the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation department as she and select colleagues developed the Young Athlete Program aimed to provide specialized care for pediatric and adolescent athletes. Her personal life then led to a cross-country transfer to Southern California, where she practiced in the acute care setting at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles in 2021-2022. She has since moved to Northern California, where she expanded her career to include geriatric experience at a skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center, as well as home health practice. Her passion for pediatrics has persisted, however, as she provides physical therapy services for a San Jose school district once/week.

She has always enjoyed teaching and sharing her joy and knowledge of physical therapy with others. She has presented on pediatric topics, including comprehensive approaches of atypical torticollis and young athlete pathologies, at conferences and DPT programs such as APTA CSM, CUNY Hunter, and Touro University. Her latest endeavor involves community outreach to educate parents and coaches on the importance of early diversification and late specialization in child/adolescent sports participation in hopes of decreasing incidence of overuse injuries and burnout.

Sabrina lectures on a comprehensive approach of assessing and treating the pediatric athlete, with special consideration of the implications associated with multi-system development.
