Admissions Exam Information

The Nursing Program is using the ATI TEAS Exam for all cohorts beginning in Fall 2024. Please find the information necessary in order to prepare, register, and complete the exam that is required for admission into the program below.

The ATI TEAS, or Test of Essential Academic Skills, is a standardized test designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness for entering health science fields. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform successfully in these areas: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.

Nursing Program Testing Policy

The ATI TEAS Exam must be taken at the School of Health Sciences of Touro University, Department of Nursing campus in a live-proctored environment.

The exam must have been taken within 2 months of your application submission at our campus. The program will only allow an applicant to test every 3 months. If an applicant retakes an ATI TEAS Exam in less than 3 months’ time, the program will only use the first test score to review a candidate.

Why do I have to take the TEAS?

The ATI TEAS has been statistically proven to be a valid predictor of early nursing school success. Your score on the TEAS is one measure of academic preparedness that helps the Touro University, SHS, Nursing Program consider your acceptance into our nursing program(s).

What does the TEAS exam consist of?

The ATI TEAS test is comprised of 170 questions that are formatted as both multiple-choice items with 4 answer options and alternate-type items. This includes 150 scored questions and 20 unscored pretest questions. Students have 209 minutes to complete the exam. Learn more about ATI TEAS exam details.

Taking the ATI TEAS Exam

Exam Registration

In order to be considered for admission to the Touro University, SHS, Nursing Program, applicants must sit, in person at our campus, for the ATI TEAS exam. In order to test, you must have an ATI account created.

  1. Create an ATI account (or learn how to create an account)
  2. Once you create your account on ATI, please sign up for an exam date with the school. Seats for each exam date are limited and you must register for one of those seats with the school before showing up for the exam. Exams are at 902 Quentin Road, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11223.
    • From September 2023 through December 2023, the exam is on Thursdays, 9am EST
    • From January 2024 through June 2024, the exam is on Wednesdays, 9am EST

Accommodations for the TEAS EXAM at the Institution

How should I prepare for the TEAS exam?

ATI, the official provider of prep for the exam, recommends that you allow yourself at least six weeks to prepare for the exam.

There are a variety of prep resources available to help you study for the test – all aligned to the ATI TEAS, Version 7 and packed with thousands of practice questions based on the content and format of the actual exam.
