If you’re a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, you can apply to our MSN/FNP program. Please review all deadlines and requirements before starting your application.

Application Deadlines

We recommend applying early because spots are limited and competitive. We admit students once per year for the Spring semester.

1st
July

The priority admission deadline for the MSN/FNP program is July 1. The MSN/FNP program has a Spring start only. Admission is rolling until the class is filled.

Admission Requirements

When reviewing candidates for the MSN/FNP program, we consider your complete application, including your academic record, nursing experience, written statement, recommendations, and admissions interview. Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the admissions committee.

You can submit your application online. To apply you’ll need:

  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing from a regionally accredited nursing program
  • Minimum undergraduate grade average of B in Nursing and minimum grade average of B in the undergraduate record as a whole
  • Current New York State RN license
  • One year of clinical experience as a registered nurse is preferred
  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to your scholastic and/or professional performance
  • A one-page essay outlining your career goals, intellectual and academic interests, and accomplishments related to the MSN/FNP program

After submitting your application, select applicants will be invited to a virtual interview through the Kira Talent platform. The interview includes a series of verbal questions for the admissions committee to review. This allows us to meet you, understand your personality and readiness to join the program, and consider your unique experiences alongside the traditional academic components of your application.

Note: All applicants should review the technology requirements for nursing program admission before applying.

Transfer Credit Review

MSN/FNP students may transfer in up to 15 credits, pending review and approval. All student transcripts are evaluated through a formal gap analysis to determine which prior coursework meets program requirements, and which courses must still be completed to satisfy the 44 credits required for the MSN/FNP degree.

Academic Support

MSN/FNP students have access to academic advising, financial aid guidance, student wellness resources, technology support, library resources, research support, and graduate writing workshops. Faculty advisors work with students throughout the program to support academic progress, registration, and career planning.

Confidentiality

As per Federal regulations, the status of an applicant in the admissions process can be discussed only with the applicant. The program cannot respond to requests for information from concerned family, friends, associates, or other interested parties.
